I guess an update on this tree is in order...it had a pretty rough winter... too much rain, and not really cold for any length of time. I would only have needed the winter quarters for about two weeks in March.. It lost a great deal of it's leaves, but as you can see here, it started coming back... not as many flower buds, and flowers, but it has been flowering for almost a month..

So with the arrival of a puppy I have not had nearly enough time to trim my trees let alone post updates, but I wanted to post some pictures of our satsuki, because the three flower colors are coming through nicely this year...
The plan is to do a strong pruning after it is done flowering... I let it grow unhindered during spring, becaus it was weak after this long and cold winter.

an update on this guy is in order.. here flowering in May, as a satsuki should and pre and post trim a few weeks ago
